I was considering getting some eyelash extensions to treat myself. I have only had them once before and I remember them not lasting as long as they should because I didn’t know how to look after them at the time. I was offered the opportunity to try some eyelash extension cleanser which of course prompted me to go ahead with the eyelashes. I didn’t know you could get a special cleanser for eyelash extensions, but it makes sense that you would need a cleanser specifically for them. It was nice to know that what I was using on my extensions wouldn’t affect the glue or make the eyelashes go horrible.
The two main things i noticed about the cleanser when looking at the box is that it is oil free and naturally PH balanced. When I had extensions last time I used an oil cleanser, so this was obviously the reason they didn’t last long.
Prolong Lash Oil Free cleanser is designed to prolong the life of bonded eyelash extensions. The unique pH balanced cleanser gently removes surface debris without stripping the skin of its natural oils. It is 100% free of Sodium Laureth Sulphate, artificial colours and fragrances, all of which can irritate and damage the skin. The cleanser can easily remove any non oil based makeup. Oil based makeup such as waterproof mascara and liquid eyeliner should not be used as the oils will cause the bonding agent used to apply the extensions to break down and soften leading to extension loss and clumping.
I have very sensitive skin and I am prone to eczema so I have to be careful what I use on my skin. When I first used the cleanser I was pleased to find that it didn’t sting and it didn’t leave the skin around my eyes looking and feeling dry. It made the extensions feel silky and soft and easily removed all of the make up from the eye.
One of the problems of using a cleanser specifically meant for the eyes can be the fact that it is a pain having to use two different cleansers on the face (one for the eyes and one for the rest of the face). The other great thing about this cleanser is that it can be used on the whole face with it being very safe and free from harmful chemicals. This is obviously great however the bottle isn’t huge being 100ml so if you did use it on the entire face, it obviously wouldn’t last as long. However a small amount does go a long way so I do feel you would still get quite a bit of use out of it even if you used it on the entire face.
It is recommended that you use the cleanser twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. I really liked using this cleanser every day as it really soothed my eyes and made the extensions look nice and glossy. I would definitely recommend using the cleanser if you have eyelash extensions. My extensions are in an amazing condition and they feel like they aren’t about to go anywhere anytime soon. Although I have only been trying it a week I do feel that it would make the eyelash extensions last as long as possible. The cleanser comes from Australia however they will deliver worldwide and it only took just over a week to arrive. I recommend ordering in advance of getting your extensions so that you receive it in time. The cleanser costs $19.95AUD which is roughly £10 and I think that is a really reasonable price.
